  • How many lessons will it take for my child to swim?
At Starfish Swim School NTX, we understand that the developmental needs of young swimmers vary. To ensure optimal growth and progress, we recommend a tailored approach based on age and individual goals. Depending on what your concept of "swimming" is this can mean many things. Some examples are, swimming from one side of the pool to the other, infants being able to roll to the back to catch some air if they were to fall into a pool, or strokework (freestyle, backstroke ect.) All are different levels of swim skills, and all of these we teach. If you have questions about our levels, please refer to our "Booking" tab. Our skill goals will vary depending on the age of the child and whether or not there is fear associated with the water. What we generally recommend is that we begin with lessons 2x- 3x a week, up to 10-12 lessons, and then assess where the individual is as far as specific goals. For children aged 2, 3, and 4, we highly recommend multiple lessons per week. Consistency is key during these formative years, as it contributes significantly to building essential water skills. This is why our 6-lesson package exists, to enable cost savings during this stretch of the learn-to-swim stage. As children grow older, a reduced frequency of once a week is generally sufficient while still fostering growth and progress. While we never require a specific number of lessons per week, aligning your lesson frequency with your swim goals can accelerate progress. For those aiming to achieve specific milestones within a short timeframe (ie. one summer), adhering to our recommended frequency enhances the likelihood of attaining those objectives. It's essential to recognize that swimming is a physically demanding sport that requires the development of muscle memory. Particularly for our younger students, repetition becomes paramount in solidifying these skills. Our instructors are committed to providing a supportive and structured environment to ensure a well-rounded and effective learning experience.
